Because, let´s face it, darlings, coming back from Holidays is hard enough without compromising style. Here are some solutions to prolong summer in your home.

Nothing says summer like hand-painted rustic plates. If you didn´t buy them abroad, fear not: Caritas has an excellent collection of them, and for a few bucks, you can buy enough to serve twelve people some wonderful late-summer dishes, like Tarte aux tomates and Merguez. Hubbies tend to hate them, but do we look like we would care?
If you don´t feel like rummaging through tons of vintage porcelain, go for Bordallo Pinheiro. I found my fish plate in a second-hand shop and was thunderstruck. Instant love. Even Hubby likes it. Maybe not as much as me, but to be honest, if someone offered me a whole set of those in exchange of my firstborn, I might consider it.

Vases are another great way to bring in wonderful rustic summer vibes. Hubby hates them even more than the plates, so I tend to display them sparingly but unwaveringly, though I still think they would look best grouped on the mantelpiece, together with those silver Elsa Peretti bone candlesticks. Sigh..

Late summer roses are the flowers to go for. Slightly rumpled, with a fabulous scent, like the best of all women. Call them the Jeanne Moreau of all roses and mix them with grasses for a sophisticated yet natural look.
A bit of rattan never hurts, either. If you are feeling flush, visit the Atelier Vime website for the most beautiful vintage pieces you will ever be able to lay your eyes upon, if not, try Ikea, go for the Avsiktlig chair in bright blue, and upholster the cushions in sunny yellow. If blue is not your New Black, choose black and try some Kvadrat fabric in sunset pink.
I like the Stockholm chair quite a lot. Guess who hates it..
And last but not least, choose your carpets wisely. Do as my very chic friend J did and go for boucherouites in sunset hues. This is the best address I found, and I am perfectly willing to share it with you. Enter at your own risk, though.. J and me spent around three hours to choose just one, and we got so excited that we had two bottles of wine between us. So make sure the wine you have is worthy of the occasion.
There, see? Endless summer in your home, perfect for those long winter months that are upon us.
