You could love it for its name alone.
It´s spring, at least calendar-wise, and I crave colour. Give me Nicole de Vesian´s garden anytime, just not now. I want pinks and purples and all shades of orange. Sometimes more is more.
And this is where my beloved Cercis Canadensis 'Forest Pansy' comes into the picture, with a profusion of bright purplish-pink blooms and heart-shaped blood-red leaves that turn dark purple over time.
I took those pictures in the park, because I´m still lacking a garden of my own (Hubby is prone to say he never promised me a rose garden, to which I can only reply, at least in spring, that I would be quite happy with an Iris bed under a Forest Pansy). Dear Wiener Stadtgärten, if you are reading this: Good job on the combination of lilacs and Cercis Canadensis trees, but could you consider some tulip beds underneath next? Pink, red and black would look fabulous. I would even grant you access to my Pinterest boards in case you need more inspiration. And I´m not saying this to every boy standing in front of a Forest Pansy.
Elevate your garden or your balcony to Comme des Garcons-worthy heights. Plant crocuses and tulips and irises. Sit under your fabulous Forest Pansy tree and sip Lapsang Souchong from black ceramic cups. Have a slice of lemon tarte or some matcha shortbread. Your garden furniture should look like a 50s french comic strip.
